Engagement Photos at Kensington Metropark

There’s nothing quite like photographing an engagement session surrounded by the beauty of Michigan’s outdoors. Kensington Metropark offers a little bit of everything — open spaces, water views, wooded paths — and it gave us the perfect setting for a recent session filled with love, laughter, and golden light.

Greenery Everywhere

One of the best things about Kensington Park is the way greenery seems to stretch in every direction. We started the session among tall grass and trees, where the couple’s smiles felt right at home against the lush summer backdrop. These natural settings made every photo feel calm and timeless.

A Surprise Rain Shower and a Rainbow

Midway through the session, the skies opened briefly and gave us a quick rain shower. Instead of dampening the mood, it added a sense of spontaneity and fun. Just as quickly as the rain came, it passed — and left behind a rainbow arching over the park. It was one of those unplanned gifts that made the evening even more memorable, and the photos captured that rare mix of joy and wonder.

Sunset by the Lake

As the evening light began to fade, we moved toward the lake. The sun dipped low, casting a warm glow across the water and giving us some of the most romantic images of the day. Sunset at Kensington always feels a little magical — the colors, the reflections, and the quiet stillness create the perfect backdrop for engagement photos.

Photos on the Beach

We also stopped at the beach, where the sand and water added a playful, relaxed vibe to the gallery. Whether they were walking hand-in-hand along the shoreline or pausing for quiet moments by the water, the couple’s connection shone through.

A Tree by the Lake

One of our favorite spots was a beautiful tree right on the lake’s edge. The branches framed the couple perfectly, creating images that were soft and intimate while still showcasing the natural beauty of the park. It’s little hidden corners like this that make Kensington such a versatile location.

Walking Paths and Quiet Moments

Finally, we ended the session along one of the park’s winding walking paths. These stretches of trail gave us a chance to capture more candid photos — the couple laughing, strolling side by side, and just being themselves. It was the perfect way to close out a session that felt relaxed, romantic, and personal.
