A Sunrise Proposal & Engagement Session at Belle Isle Conservatory

Some mornings are worth waking up early for—and this one was unforgettable. On a quiet morning at Belle Isle, just as the sun started to rise over the Detroit River, we got to witness something incredible: a surprise proposal inside the Anna Scripps Whitcomb Conservatory.

The light pouring through the glass dome was softly lit. The moment was private, emotional, and beautifully intimate. Surrounded by lush greenery and early morning stillness, she said yes.

After a few joyful tears and a couple of deep breaths, we took some photos in the Conservatory, then stepped outside to explore the island. Belle Isle in the morning feels like a secret—quiet trails, gentle breezes, and serenity. We wandered through gardens letting the morning unfold naturally.

We wrapped the session on one of Belle Isle’s sandy beaches. The Detroit skyline in the background, a bit of wind and a tempestuous sky, and that post-proposal glow made for the perfect final shots. The city was just waking up, and so were they—as an engaged couple, now planning a new future together.

If you're thinking of popping the question or planning engagement photos in Detroit, Belle Isle offers something magical. Mornings here are quiet, romantic, and full of possibility. It’s hard to think of a better way to start the next chapter.
