A Beautiful Lakefront Wedding at Walden Woods in Howell, Michigan
There’s something truly special about photographing weddings at Walden Woods Resort in Howell, Michigan. The mix of towering trees, calm water, and glowing sunlight makes it one of the most romantic spots in the state — and this wedding was a perfect example of that beauty.
The day started with getting ready moments at the resort, full of excitement, laughter, and anticipation. Both brides were surrounded by friends and family, helping with details and making sure everything was perfect before the big reveal.
The first look took place under the clear blue sky, right along the lake’s edge. The sunlight reflected off the water, creating that soft, dreamy glow photographers dream about. The emotion of that moment — the smiles, the tears, and the quiet laughter — set the tone for the entire day.
The ceremony was held outdoors at Walden Woods, framed by the lake and surrounded by trees. The setting couldn’t have been more beautiful — simple, natural, and full of heart. The breeze off the water carried just enough coolness to make it comfortable, and every guest had the best seat in the house.
Afterward, we spent time capturing portraits across the property — in the woods, near the shoreline, and from above with a few drone shots that showed the incredible view of the lake and surrounding forest. Walden Woods has a peaceful way of blending rustic charm with resort luxury, and it photographed beautifully from every angle.
As the sun started to drop, we stepped out again for sunset portraits — warm light pouring across the lake, soft golden tones in the trees, and two brides completely in the moment. Those images were the perfect close to an already unforgettable day.
The reception was full of life, laughter, and celebration — heartfelt toasts, packed dance floors, and the kind of joy that fills every photo with energy.
At J&B Patton Photography, we loved documenting every part of this day. Walden Woods in Howell is one of Michigan’s most naturally beautiful venues, and when the light hits the lake just right, it feels pure magic.
